Disorders or complications with the feet can be incredibly painful and debilitating. Unfortunately, almost ¾ of Americans will suffer from some kind of foot problem within  their lifetime. Bunions can run in the family. Foot problems can vary but one common problem many people experience is the development of bunions. Feet They carry you from here to there every day. But you may not think much about them until they hurt.

According to WebMD, a bunion is an unnatural bony hump that forms at the base of toe, where it connects to the foot. This most often occurs on the big toe and it typically deviates towards the other toes. This, in turn, pushes out on the first metatarsal bone, forming a bunion. Sometimes the little toe can deviate and push out on the fifth metatarsal. When this occurs this is known as a bunionette. Bunions can be extremely painful because they form at the joint, which bears all of our weight when we walk. Bunions, like many other foot problems, begin to form and develop in early adulthood and then progressively get worse. Poor foot structure can lead to their development as well as wearing shoes are too tight or restrictive. Women are especially prone to developing bunions due to years of wearing high heels and pointed shoes. These type of shoes slowly cause feet to develop an unnatural shape.

Foot pain, no matter how mild, is not natural. If you are experiencing pain or noticing a change in your feet you should seek medical care right away. Early care can help prevent the condition from worsening. If you suffer from bunions and they are extremely painful, surgery may be a viable option for you. We offer surgical treatments, including bunions surgery, to Marietta residents.
